Carp and cats AVERAGE SIZE CARP... 20lb upto 30lb CATS...40lb upto 82lb LAKE SIZE... 3.5 acres SWIMS... 10 swims, 2 doubles for 10 anglers DEPTHS... 4-8ft PRICE... £33 per night DURATION... 24hrs plus Avoca was previously a mixed species water but was drained down, reshaped and restocked some years ago to accommodate specimen anglers and 10 well spaced pegs. This well matured lake with 3 islands is home to over 200 carp and a good head of very large catfish with at least 4 specimens going over 75lb plus! Avoca has a gravelled lake bed with pockets of shallow silt. There are a few lumps, bumps and shelves so an echo sounder might be useful. The lake has plenty of features including a none fishing bank that acts as an extra island. Avoca has been in various publications over the last few years for its unbelievable winter catfish form. Despite these fish originating from warmer climates they tend to dominate the catch reports during the colder months. One outstanding capture during 2023 consisted of 3 cats at 76lb 77lb and 78lb for a total weight of 231lb. Unbelievably these were not the biggest fish caught during this session as a different angler landed a different 79lb monster from a different peg. When they feed..... they feed!
